The Ultrasound Technologist performs or assists in ultrasound examinations, renders technical assistance to the Radiologist, and maintains and cares for all ultrasound equipment. The role involves preparing patients, operating and adjusting ultrasound equipment, ensuring patient safety, communicating with patients and staff, developing procedure plans, performing exams, analyzing sonographic findings, performing measurements, minimizing patient exposure to acoustic energy, notifying healthcare providers of urgent needs, evaluating patient status, recording diagnostic images, providing preliminary findings to the radiologist, ensuring adequate supplies, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and assisting in the orientation and mentoring of new personnel. May also answer telephones, schedule examinations, and initiate transportation.
