Ultrasound Technologist - General Ultrasound - Part Time Weekends
About The Position
Join the Radiology team at NewYork-Presbyterian / Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, providing compassionate, high-quality patient care. The registered Ultrasound Technologist performs general ultrasound examinations and welcomes patients, visitors, and staff. The position assesses patient condition, selects appropriate transducers, adjusts equipment to support diagnostic testing, and ensures adherence to safety standards. The role supports effective department operations and patient care services. This is a part-time, on-site position at NYP/Brooklyn Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. The schedule is Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Employees must live within commuting distance; travel expenses are not reimbursed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduation from an accredited ultrasound technology program.
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer credential from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Demonstrated patient-care experience with training in ultrasound.
- For work in the Diagnostic Imaging Center: at least 3 years of direct post-training ultrasound experience in General Sonography, including abdominal, pelvic, and small-part studies, and Doppler interrogation experience involving the upper abdomen and female and male reproductive systems.
Responsibilities
- Perform ultrasound examinations.
- Greet and welcome patients, visitors, and staff, and assist in performing exams when necessary.
- Assess patient condition.
- Select the proper transducer and adjust equipment to meet diagnostic testing needs.
- Ensure adherence to safety standards.
- Support effective department operations and patient care services.
