About The Position

The Ultrasound Technologist examines requests and verifies orders for assigned patients, assists radiologists with invasive procedures, and evaluates examination quality. The role develops effective examination techniques to improve departmental efficiency, supports patient-centered care, reports equipment malfunctions, operates the Radiology computer system to enter and charge exams and supplies, and maintains a neat, stocked work area while following departmental rules and professional standards.

Requirements

• Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers or the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists is required.
• BLS certification is required per policy guidelines.
• Interpersonal skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Examine requests and verify orders for each assigned patient.
• Assist the Radiologist in performing invasive procedures.
• Evaluate the technical quality of examinations and develop varied techniques to improve departmental efficiency.
• Support the Patient-Centered Care Philosophy and meet each patient's needs.
• Report malfunctioning equipment to the Assistant Director, Lead Sonographer, and/or Engineer.
• Operate the Radiology computer system, including entering and charging exams and supplies.
• Keep the assigned work area neat and orderly and assist with keeping it stocked.
• Follow departmental rules and regulations and maintain a professional manner.
