Requirements

  • Completion of accredited program in ultrasound.
  • ARDMS (AB or OB/GYN or VT) or ARRT (S) required at time of hire (specific requirements vary by role).
  • If not ARDMS (OB/GYN) registered at time of hire, registry required within twelve months of hire with the first attempt to pass the OB/GYN registry within six months of hire (for Inpatient).
  • If not ARDMS (OB/GYN) registered at time of hire, registry required within six months of hire (for Outpatient).
  • If not ARDMS (RVT) registered at time of hire, registry required within 12 months of hire (for Outpatient).
  • If not ARDMS (BR) registered at time of hire, registry required within 12 months of hire (for Outpatient Women's).
  • If not ARDMS (RVT) registered at time of hire, registry required within 24 months of hire (for Outpatient Women's).
  • American Heart Association CPR required.
  • Constant (67-100% of workday) use of arms and hands.
  • Frequent (34-66% of workday) standing, walking, sitting.
  • Occasional (0-33% of workday) bending and squatting.
  • Ability to lift 35 lbs.
  • Ability to push and pull up to 20 lbs.
  • Auditory and visual skills to include color determination.
  • Possesses critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Capacity to cope with difficult situations.
  • Ability to tolerate irregular hours including evenings, nights, and weekends.
  • Risk of exposure to radiation and toxic chemicals.
  • Potential for exposure to bloodborne pathogens; must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • For MRI Associates: Must complete MRI Associate screening and be approved to work in the MRI environment (Zones 3 & 4) at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Perform ultrasound procedures for Inpatient (Mary Washington Hospital and Stafford Hospital) and Outpatient (Various facilities through the Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania, King George and Stafford areas).
  • Ensure compliance with ARDMS and ARRT certifications.
  • Maintain American Heart Association CPR certification.
  • Utilize critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Multi-task effectively.
  • Communicate effectively and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Cope with difficult situations.
  • Tolerate irregular hours including evenings, nights, and weekends.
  • Manage risk of exposure to radiation and toxic chemicals.
  • Handle potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Complete MRI Associate screening and be approved to work in the MRI environment (Zones 3 & 4) if applicable.
  • Adhere to policies regarding mandatory vaccines (Annual flu vaccine), with potential for medical and religious exemptions.
