This position performs prescribed procedures in accordance with department/facility policies, procedures, and protocols. This position ensures optimal care/treatment to patient population. The role involves using imaging equipment and soundwaves to form images for diagnosis, producing quality images following appropriate protocols and procedures, and providing and maintaining clinical documentation per scope of practice. The ultrasonographer will educate patients/families regarding the procedure, explain the procedure, position the patient, and spread ultrasound gel on the body to cover the internal area being imaged. They will evaluate images for quality, interpret what image is captured, and present images and preliminary findings to the physician. Additionally, the role includes maintaining ultrasound equipment, sterilizing the room, performing and evaluating equipment quality control measurements, troubleshooting and ensuring equipment functionality, and monitoring and maintaining an adequate inventory of supplies and materials to ensure non-interruption of services. The ultrasonographer must understand and adhere to all applicable regulatory and accrediting standards, follow RHS policies and procedures, and report variances.
