About The Position

Elavon is expanding its direct SMB sales presence across the UK and is looking for a dynamic Sales Manager to recruit and lead a brand new Sales team. This is a rare opportunity to head up a newly formed, high-performing team targeting SMB /mid-market businesses. The role will play a pivotal part in shaping strategy, driving growth, and building lasting client relationships in a fast-paced, innovative environment. The purpose of this role is to support the sales team to win profitable new clients through sales of payment services into the SMB and Mid-market segment both directly and through partners. This includes identifying business opportunities based on expert knowledge of prospecting, merchants, markets, products and services, engaging with prospects throughout the buying cycle, particularly in the discovery phase, and supporting the creation/delivery of compelling proposals, negotiating/managing large and complex sales (including co-ordination of technical teams). The role also involves maintaining relationships with clients post-sale for a period of up to 12 months to continue to deliver VAS and maintain excellent levels of customer service, and developing and maintaining stakeholder relationships within referral and introducer partnerships (plus trade associations and other networks) to maintain an effective network to help promote sales.

Responsibilities

  • Win profitable new clients through sales of payment services into the SMB and Mid-market segment both directly and through partners.
  • Identify business opportunities based on expert knowledge of prospecting, merchants, markets, products and services.
  • Engage with prospects throughout the buying cycle, particularly in the discovery phase and support creation/delivery of compelling proposals, negotiating / managing large and complex sales (including co-ordination of technical teams).
  • Maintain relationship with clients post sale and for a period of up to 12 months to continue to deliver VAS and maintain excellent levels of customer service.
  • Develop and maintain stakeholder relationships within referral and introducer partnerships (plus trade associations and other networks) to maintain an effective network to help promote sales.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork by actively promoting cross functional collaboration between sales and other departments such as Marketing, Credit and Risk, Sales Enablement and Account Management teams to drive revenue growth and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Lead by example in building strong relationships with internal stakeholders, encouraging open communication and facilitating joint problem solving to address customer needs and opportunities.
  • Organise and lead regular team meetings ensuring alignment on goals, sharing best practices, and providing ongoing feedback to enhance performance and maintain a collaborative work environment.

  • Set clear, measurable sales targets and support the team to consistently achieve and exceed performance goals through effective coaching (including face to face), creating accountability, and performance tracking vs our minimum standards and KPIs.
  • Continuous reflection and analysis of sales data and market trends to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure the team remains focused on high impact activities i.e. pipeline building and spending time with clients and partners face to face.
  • Foster a results orientated culture by celebrating achievements, addressing performance challenges proactively and ensuring the team remains agile and responsive to changing business needs and opportunities.
