About The Position

The UGE Lineman C assists Journeyman Linemen and the Foreman while training and learning the trade. The role performs work related to constructing and maintaining poles, power lines, auxiliary facilities, and equipment for the transmission and distribution of electricity. The position supports and learns from the Lineman team and works with other personnel in the department. The job operates in a field environment and involves physically active work, including extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, standing, and twisting. Work may take place in inclement weather, including extreme heat or cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind. Employees must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, meet the described vision and color-identification requirements, and perform precise hand-eye coordination tasks.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
At least 1 year of experience.
Valid driver's license.
Ability to bend, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds.
Ability to meet the role's vision requirements, including clarity of vision at 20 feet or more or 20 inches or less and the ability to judge distance and space relationships.
Precise hand-eye coordination.
Ability to identify and distinguish colors.

Nice To Haves

2 or more years of experience.
OSHA 10 Certification.

Responsibilities

Understand and perform switching procedures to isolate and insulate underground power lines.
Splice and terminate underground power lines following proper procedures.
Set and work on underground transformers and other devices.
Properly phase and mark or tag underground equipment.
Function as a senior hands-on employee working on or around energized lines.
Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.
