About The Position

The UGE Lineman C performs diversified construction and maintenance work on underground power lines, from plant or station to meter base, as well as auxiliary facilities and equipment used to distribute electricity. The position supports the Line team and coordinates with personnel from other departments. Work takes place in a field environment and includes physically demanding tasks in varied weather conditions. The role also requires a strong commitment to safe practices and accountability for people, vehicles, and equipment in the employee’s care.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
At least 3 years of experience.
Valid driver's license.
Ability to bend, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds.
Ability to meet the position’s physical demands, including extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, standing, and twisting.
Visual ability to see clearly at 20 feet or more or 20 inches or less, judge distance and space relationships, coordinate hand and eye movements precisely, and identify and distinguish colors.

Nice To Haves

5 or more years of experience.
OSHA 10 Certification.

Responsibilities

Drive a truck to the jobsite and maintain truck stock.
Provide services for construction, operation, and maintenance of the customer's electrical distribution system.
Perform switching procedures to isolate and insulate, splice, and terminate underground power lines while following safety procedures.
Set and work on underground transformers and other devices.
Properly phase and mark or tag underground equipment.
Connect, disconnect, install, remove, move, or transfer electrical devices at customer facilities, such as transformers, transformer banks, regulators, switches, switching devices, and capacitor banks.
Stay current on changes in records, reports, and other information affecting the position.
Investigate consumer complaints and repair energized electrical distribution lines.
Take responsibility for personal actions and for personnel, vehicles, or equipment in the employee’s care, custody, or control.
Immediately report personal and vehicle accidents or incidents to supervisors and cooperate with related investigations.
Set a good example for less experienced employees by following and teaching safe practices.
Perform other duties as required or assigned.
