The UE Testing Technician is responsible for applying knowledge of ultrasonic testing procedures to examine and requalify high-pressure gas cylinders. This role involves using testing equipment to perform non-destructive inspections with high frequency sound waves to measure physical properties like thickness and to ensure material integrity. The technician will detect conditions such as cracks or corrosion that could make a cylinder unsafe for use. The position requires proficiency in managing computer equipment and valve machines for testing, working in alignment with SP143130/ UE Standard Operating Procedures, and using warehouse equipment like forklifts and pallet jacks to move gas cylinders. Maintenance and calibration of ultrasonic testing equipment are also key responsibilities. The role involves meticulous recording of test results, cylinder information, and test dates, as well as stamping test dates and labeling cylinders post-testing. Reviewing and interpreting test results against local, state, federal, and Department of Transportation (DOT) guidelines is crucial. Cylinders requiring attention must be removed from service. Additional duties may include supporting the team with loading/unloading trucks, inventory, general housekeeping, customer interactions, filling cylinders, and painting cylinders.
