The UE Testing Technician is responsible for applying knowledge of ultrasonic testing procedures to examine and requalify high-pressure gas cylinders. This role involves using testing equipment to perform non-destructive inspections with high-frequency sound waves to measure physical properties like thickness and to ensure material integrity. The technician will detect cracks, corrosion, or other conditions that may render a gas cylinder unsafe for use. The position requires proficiency in managing computer equipment and valve machines, working in alignment with specific standard operating procedures for testing, and using warehouse equipment like forklifts and pallet jacks to move gas cylinders. Maintaining and calibrating ultrasonic testing equipment, recording test results with high attention to detail, and stamping/labeling cylinders after testing are key duties. The role also involves reviewing and interpreting test results according to local, state, federal, and Department of Transportation (DOT) standards, and ensuring cylinders needing attention are removed from service. Additional tasks may include supporting the team with loading/unloading trucks, inventory, housekeeping, customer interactions, filling cylinders, and painting cylinders.
