DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAM SERVICES: The Urgent Accommodation Voucher Program for Transitional Age Youth (TAY) is a low barrier model that creates a safety net for TAY to quickly access an adequate and safe place to stay for a limited time. The program provides for emergency hotel placement operations and supportive services, including linkages to existing programs such as Coordinated Entry, harm reduction services, public program benefits, health services, and behavioral health. SUMMARY: This position serves clients receiving Urgent Accommodation Vouchers for 14-day hotel stays for Transitional Aged Youth (TAY). This position’s focus is securing and maintaining relationships with hotels that will allow hotel stays for TAY. And the role will also interact with clients and other referring partners and will assist with the booking of the hotel stay. This is a full-time, non-exempt, union position.

Requirements

  • BA degree in social services, psychology, or another related field. Equivalent work experience (hotel, hospitality, administrative), may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
  • Above average proficiency to read, write and speak English.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of homeless issues, especially in context to race, class, gender, and sexual identity.
  • Knowledge, experience, and comfort working with a diverse community, including LGBTQQ, youth, immigrant, low-income communities, and communities of color.
  • Proficient in using MS Office including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Working knowledge and familiarity with SF.
  • Demonstrated commitment to open, direct, and non-violent communication.
  • Ability to de-escalate crisis situations and make decisions under pressure.
  • Proficient reporting skills including data entry, Excel, and Word processing.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries with clients, volunteers, and staff.
  • Commitment to the mission of St. Vincent de Paul Society of San Francisco.
  • Covid vaccination and TB test required.
  • Background check completed upon acceptance of job offer.

Responsibilities

  • Hotel Site Identification - seek appropriate hotel locations to temporarily shelter TAY individuals for a 14-day stay.
  • Ensure that the hotel provides an appropriate standard of care, including but not limited to a clean, safe, and pest-free environment, per all applicable building, fire and health codes; linens and housekeeping; adequate and functioning furniture, fixtures, and equipment; and secure entry into the building
  • Phone Screening and Reservations - facilitate emergency hotel reservations via phone, in accordance with the hotel facility’s hours of operation, for TAY.
  • Facility Maintenance - report in a timely manner to hotel management any repairs, maintenance, and/or room turnover needed in the guest hotel rooms.
  • Participate in regular debrief meetings with UAV case manager.
  • Perform other appropriate duties as assigned.
