About The Position

WHYY is seeking a TV Production Intern to support producers working on television segments for the monthly broadcast and the website. The intern will assist with field and studio shoots, research, shooting, editing, and other production tasks, and may pitch stories for shows in production. The internship offers experience across pre-production, production, and post-production, including developing interview questions, summarizing content, program organization, offline editing, and professional etiquette on shoots.

Applicants must be current junior or senior undergraduate students, graduate students, or recent graduates who graduated no more than three years ago. Applications must include a resume, a cover letter discussing career goals, computer and language skills, and relevant broadcasting or media experience, a two- or three-page writing sample, a link to media or digital work if appropriate, and a recommendation letter from someone familiar with the applicant’s relevant experience, background, skills, or work ethic.

Requirements

Nice To Haves

• Experience using AVID is especially welcome.
• After Effects experience is a plus.
• Experience editing or producing is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Join producers on field shoots and act as a production assistant on location.
• Generate, organize, and gather release forms and assist with other on-location tasks.
• Assist in logging and transcribing footage.
• Support producers as they research, shoot, and edit segments for the monthly broadcast and website.
• Support studio shoots by running the teleprompter, welcoming guests, and acting as a production assistant.
• Pitch stories for shows currently in production.
• Write copy.
