About The Position

The Center for Academic Success is home to Post University’s tutoring services, providing academic support to Post University students in the form of one-on-one tutoring, group instruction, academic resource development, and general “walk-in” inquiries. The Center is also the home to the University’s Writing Center, which provides paper review services, APA/Writing help, and research assistance. The Student Support Specialist in the Center for Academic Success is crucial in helping Post University students get the support they need to be successful in their classes. The Student Support Specialists helps coordination the delivery of appropriate resources and services to our students. This includes but is not limited to: fielding incoming student calls, emails, texts, and walk-in inquiries by directing them to appropriate resources; coordinating appointments with Academic Specialists; assisting students with basic computer and student success skills when appropriate; gathering and providing student feedback to Center leadership as how the Center for Academic Success can better support Post students. Hours and schedule are flexible based on students’ availability and FWS hours, but working hours will be within the Center’s normal hours of operation, approximately 12-15 hours per week. The position is only for the fall semester. Location: Post University Main Campus – Upper Level of Traurig Library (onsite) Supervisor: Assistant Director of the Center for Academic Success Rate of Pay: $16.94 per hour

Requirements

  • Current Post University student eligible for Federal Work Study.
  • Competent computer skills, primarily MS Office products.
  • Familiarity with (or ability to learn) Blackboard, Post’s learning management system.
  • Able to provide supportive and friendly student support.
  • A strong work ethic and able to work under minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • As the person students first interact with when coming to the Center for Academic Success, able to proudly represent our department and its values.

Responsibilities

  • Be the primary point of contact for the Center for Academic Success and manage all email and phone inquiries.
  • Coordinate tutoring appointments with Academic Specialists. Follow up with students to confirm their appointments and cancel/reschedule as necessary.
  • Provide ideas for and feedback on Center for Academic Success’s social media content.
  • Develop and implement departmental promotional materials and learning resources handouts.
  • Attend Center for Academic Success events and meetings when occasionally needed.
  • Perform other job-related duties as needed from the Director and/or Assistant Director.
