About The Position

The Math Tutoring Lab in the Tutoring Center provides tutoring and individual assistance to A-B Tech students in all levels of mathematics, including developmental. Assistants assist students with acquiring the skills necessary to succeed in their coursework. Assistants work directly with the students in a fast-paced, busy lab. Assistants provide tutoring to students of various abilities and backgrounds. Assistants supervise tutoring lab Aides and Peer Tutors. Assistants implement and enforce TC and A-B Tech policies, procedures, and guidelines while providing professional, helpful, and reliable assistance to students.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree, or higher, with significant coursework in Math or a related field.
• Experience teaching or tutoring in a higher education setting and/or successful prior work experience in an environment applicable to the current position.
• Patience and the ability to multi-task.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Basic computer skills and the ability to use a graphing calculator.

Nice To Haves

• At least 2 years of experience teaching or tutoring in a higher education setting.
• Familiarity with A-B Tech’s campus and curriculum.

Responsibilities

• Tutor students in all levels of mathematics.
• Supervise Aides and Peer Tutors and lab activities.
• Communicate effectively with students, instructors, and staff.
• Provide customer service.
• Occasional data entry, record keeping, and general office duties.
• Provide a positive environment for student learning.
• Implement and enforce TC and A-B Tech regulations.
• Other duties as assigned by the TC Coordinator.
