About The Position

The Karin L. Bone Athletic Study Center, a division of the Illinois State Athletic Department, offers services and programs to support students academically. Content tutors are responsible for providing individual and small-group tutoring sessions on a weekly basis, as well as drop-in tutoring, for lower-level courses at Illinois State University. All tutoring activities take place at the Karin L. Bone Athletic Study Center during its operational hours. This application is for an applicant pool, and applications will be reviewed continuously as demand for specific subjects increases or staffing changes occur. The center is particularly seeking tutors for courses such as ACC 131 & 132, FIL 185 level & above, PHY 102, 105, 108, 109, 110, CHE 102, 110, 140, 141, 230 & 232, ECO 101 & 102, MAT 113, 119, 120, 121, BSC 101, 196, 197, and KNR 181 & 182.

Requirements

• Applicants must have an overall GPA of at least a 3.25
• A letter grade of a "B" is required in the course(s) in which the candidate is applying to tutor
• Proficient in the area in which he/she desires to tutor and be able to convey that knowledge clearly via the spoken and written word
• Friendly, patient, desire to be helpful, and must be able to communicate effectively
• Effectively communicate on a daily basis
