About The Position

The Tutor - English 101 Corequisite works closely with an English 101 professor to support students and foster their writing process during twice-weekly class sessions, alongside another corequisite tutor. The position also includes a brief weekly planning meeting with the professor, professional training, and communicating student learning concerns to the professor.

Requirements

• Successfully completed EN101 and/or EN200 with a grade of B or higher.
• Currently enrolled at Washburn University.
• Available to attend a half-day pre-semester training.
• Professionalism.
• Ability to interact with other students in a supportive fashion.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience in a writing center or other teaching/tutoring context.
• General interest in education.

Responsibilities

• Co-facilitate support sessions with another corequisite tutor twice each week.
• Attend a 20–30 minute weekly meeting with the course professor to check in and plan support sessions.
• Inform the professor when students appear to be struggling with concepts or other matters relevant to their learning.
• Participate in professional trainings.
• Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.
