About The Position

Boulder Valley School District is hiring an Academic Tutor at Southern Hills Middle School. The tutor supports student achievement and contributes to a lively, positive learning environment. The role involves helping students with classroom work, working with teachers and student groups, and assisting with supervision. This is a temporary, 0.50 FTE position for 20 hours per week, scheduled for nine months, with an hourly rate of $18.82. The position is scheduled to begin November 9, 2026, and continue through May 20, 2027.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent and communicate effectively in English, including passing the English component of the interview process. At least two years of college and a bachelor’s degree are preferred, as is experience tutoring, mentoring, or educating children and young adults ages 5–12. Salary placement varies according to experience and education. Benefits may be available to eligible employees.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to communicate in English by reading, writing, and speaking.
• Pass the English component of the interview process.
• Complete and submit the BVSD online application.

Nice To Haves

• At least two years of college; a bachelor’s degree is preferred.
• Experience in education, tutoring, or mentoring children or young adults ages 5–12.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, school staff, and administrators.
• Experience working with children in a Core Knowledge setting.
• Positive communication, interaction, and work experience with diverse people.

Responsibilities

• Work in assigned classrooms to help students with general classroom work.
• Assist teachers by working with specific groups of students.
• Assist students with computers, language arts, mathematics, and Homework Club.
• Assist with supervision during lunch and recess.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the teacher.
