About The Position
Prep Academy Tutors of Baltimore County seeks Academic Tutors to provide personalized educational support tailored to each student’s learning style, goals, and academic needs. Tutors deliver one-on-one sessions in their areas of academic strength and may support subjects such as math, English, reading, writing, science, and other areas of expertise. The work focuses on helping students build academic skills, confidence, effective learning habits, and independence. Tutoring assignments are in Baltimore County, Maryland. Work setting depends on the tutoring assignment, and scheduling is flexible subject to student availability and program requirements. Tutors may coordinate with families and the tutoring team regarding student progress and feedback. These are contract tutoring opportunities; assignment availability and employment requirements will be discussed during the hiring process.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge in one or more academic subjects.
- A bachelor’s degree, current enrollment in a degree program, or relevant educational experience.
- A valid Maryland teaching license/certificate or equivalent teaching credential.
- Experience working with students through tutoring, teaching, mentoring, coaching, or similar roles.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to explain challenging concepts in approachable, student-friendly ways.
- Patience, reliability, organization, and commitment to student growth.
- Ability to tailor teaching approaches to individual student needs.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and their families.
- Willingness to complete applicable screening and background-check requirements.
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel to student homes.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
