About The Position
Prep Academy Tutors of Baltimore County is seeking Academic Tutors to provide personalized educational support to students in Baltimore County, Maryland. Tutors deliver engaging one-on-one sessions in their areas of academic strength, adapting instruction to students’ learning styles, abilities, goals, and academic needs. Subjects may include math, English, reading, writing, science, and other areas of expertise, depending on the tutor’s strengths and student needs. Tutors help students strengthen foundational skills, master challenging concepts, prepare for tests and assignments, and develop effective study habits, organization, time management, and independent problem-solving skills. They create a positive and encouraging learning environment, monitor progress, and communicate meaningful feedback to families and the tutoring team. The work setting and schedule depend on the tutoring assignment, student availability, and program requirements; tutors need reliable transportation and must be able to travel to students’ homes. Employment requirements, assignment availability, and scheduling will be discussed during hiring.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge in one or more academic subjects.
- A bachelor’s degree, current enrollment in a degree program, or relevant educational experience.
- A valid Maryland teaching license/certificate or equivalent teaching credential.
- Experience working with students through tutoring, teaching, mentoring, coaching, or similar roles.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to explain challenging concepts in approachable, student-friendly ways.
- Patience, reliability, organization, and commitment to student growth.
- Ability to tailor teaching approaches to individual student needs.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and their families.
- Willingness to complete applicable screening and background-check requirements.
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel to student homes.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
