About The Position

Boulder Valley School District is hiring an Academic Tutor at Broomfield Heights Middle School. Academic Tutors support student achievement and help create a lively, positive learning environment. They communicate positively, manage the learning environment, appreciate student diversity and different learning styles, and use effective interpersonal skills, including active listening and approachability.

This is a temporary position through May 20, 2027, scheduled for 20 hours per week on a 9-month hourly schedule. The position is scheduled to start November 18, 2026, and pays $18.82 per hour. Compensation placement is determined by Human Resources based on the applicant’s qualifications, including experience and education.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Communicate in English (read, write, and speak); pass the English component of the interview process.
• Complete and submit a BVSD online application.

Nice To Haves

• At least two years of college; a bachelor’s degree is preferred.
• Experience in education, tutoring, or mentoring children or young adults ages 5–12.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, school staff, and administrators.
• Experience working with children in a Core Knowledge setting.
• Positive communication, interaction, and work experience with diverse people.

Responsibilities

• Work in assigned classrooms to help students with general classroom work.
• Assist the teacher by working with specific groups of students.
• Assist students with computers, language arts, mathematics, and Homework Club.
• Assist with supervision during lunchtime and recess.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the teacher.
