About The Position

Under limited supervision, responsible for the setup, adjustment, and operation of High Frequency Welded Tube Mills and associated equipment in accordance with established standard methods, procedures, HSE requirements, quality standards, and productivity goals. Provides manufacturing support to ensure continuous operation of the tube mill, performs troubleshooting, conducts quality inspections, and makes process adjustments to produce welded tubing that meets specifications.

Requirements

  • Welded Tube Mill process experience
  • Ability to read and interpret production orders, prints, specifications, and SPC charts
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of mill components and tooling
  • Proficiency with measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Forklift certification
  • Working knowledge of LEAN manufacturing principles
  • Knowledge of HSE regulations
  • Strong collaboration, communication, time management, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with routinely changing priorities

  • QC-L4-7 Visual Inspection of Strip and Tubing and Defect Removal Procedure
  • QC-L4-8 Flattening and Flare Testing Procedure

Responsibilities

  • Performs all duties in accordance with standard operating procedures and strict adherence to HSE, quality, and productivity requirements.
  • Sets up, adjusts, and operates welded tube mill equipment, including sizing rolls, side pass rolls, weld rolls, induction welder, and in-line annealer.
  • Determines appropriate mill settings and operational sequences using Mill Tooling Setup Charts for specified tube sizes.
  • Operates and monitors multiple control panels for the tube mill, annealer, and induction welder, including setting and monitoring temperatures.
  • Troubleshoots welded tube mill processes to resolve manufacturing issues and support process improvement within established policies.
  • Analyzes SPC and process data to make equipment adjustments that optimize productivity and quality.
  • Inspects and measures tubing samples at start-up, during production, and at end of runs to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Performs and documents dimensional inspections, visual inspections, burst testing, and flare testing in accordance with written procedures.
  • Executes and records all required production and quality checks; reports nonconformities to the Production Supervisor and Quality Department.
  • Operates lift trucks as required to support mill operations and material handling.
  • Maintains cleanliness of equipment and work area in accordance with 5S, HSE, and production guidelines, including proper disposal of waste.
  • Assists with process examinations, quality documentation, root cause analysis, equipment validations, and safety or quality audits.
  • Provides training and direction to mill helpers or new operators as needed.
  • Works from production schedules, sales orders, prints, and specifications.
  • Assists with other departmental operations as assigned
