About The Position

Metalcraft is seeking a skilled Tube Laser Operator for their 2nd shift. This role requires an individual who can think quickly, make decisions, and possesses strong troubleshooting and mechanical skills. The operator will be responsible for setting up and operating laser machines, ensuring material accuracy, checking parts against blueprints, and maintaining quality standards. The position involves problem-solving for machine alignment and cut conditions, troubleshooting minor program errors, and accurately accounting for work completed. The operator will also safely use a forklift, participate in preventative maintenance, and ensure compliance with safety standards. Requirements

  • Strong orientation towards quality, safety and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Competent at basic dimensional measuring and able to quickly learn the use of precision measurement tools.
  • Demonstrated competency in basic shop math.
  • Demonstrated blueprint reading capability.
  • Ability to efficiently work in a team and coordinate work with other departments.
  • Aptitude to take orders and execute the same efficiently.
  • Demonstrated detail orientation, self motivation skills and ability to multi-task.

Responsibilities

  • Perform setups and operations.
  • Check material thickness for accuracy and load material.
  • Check parts according to blueprints.
  • Perform assigned work to time standards and quality expectations.
  • Identify and solve machine alignment and cut condition problems.
  • Troubleshoot minor program errors independently.
  • Account for time and work completed via online computer data collection system.
  • Safely operate a forklift to handle materials and complete work.
  • Make routine decisions and use problem solving to resolve basic manufacturing issues.
  • Report and document basic material, production and quality control issues.
  • Participate in equipment preventative maintenance at the operator level.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate and plant safety standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.
