About The Position
The Tube Cell Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC and/or manual machining equipment within a tube fabrication cell. This role produces precision tubular components and assemblies to tight tolerances while ensuring quality, efficiency, and adherence to engineering specifications.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Ability to read blueprints and interpret technical specifications
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- Experience using precision measuring instruments
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment
- Basic understanding of machining principles, tooling, and setup practices
- Commitment to safety and quality standards
Nice To Haves
- Experience in machining, CNC operation, or tube fabrication strongly preferred
- CNC machining experience in a production or cell environment
- Experience working with tube bending, forming, or fabrication equipment
- Exposure to aerospace, automotive, or industrial manufacturing environments
- Familiarity with GD&T and quality inspection processes
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC and/or manual machining equipment within a tube fabrication cell environment
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions
- Load raw tubing materials and secure fixtures, tooling, and work-holding devices
- Perform machine setups including tooling changes, offsets, and adjustments as needed
- Machine tubular components to precise tolerances and specifications
- Inspect parts using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.)
- Perform in-process and final quality inspections to ensure compliance with GD&T and customer requirements
- Troubleshoot machining issues and make minor adjustments to maintain quality and production flow
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve non-conformances
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work area following 5S standards
- Perform basic preventative maintenance and report equipment issues promptly
