About The Position

The Trailer preventive maintenance technician will work cross-functionally across multiple areas of the garage. Responsibilities include performing routine preventive maintenance repairs on trailers, and addressing emergency mechanical or electrical failures. The role requires the ability to diagnose and repair brake and wheel end failures on trailers, and perform minor structural welding and cutting tasks. Safely applying knowledge and troubleshooting skills to all assigned equipment is essential, as is the ability to effectively communicate with all transportation personnel including managers, drivers, and clerks. The position also requires the ability to read and interpret instructions, manuals, and schematics, along with basic math and computer skills for documentation and processing daily work orders. Trailer techs may be required to perform service calls at remote locations, necessitating a current valid driver's license and passing an MVR check. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older and have no DUI/DWI convictions within the last 12 months.

Requirements

  • 3 months of continuous work history in the last 6 months with a single employer listed on the application
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Must not have any DUI/DWI convictions within the last 12 months
  • Tools Required (See Attached)
  • Ability to advance to ME02 within 12 months of hire date
  • Show proficiency on standard preventive maintenance (PM1’s, PM2’s for trucks or trailers depending on mechanic classification)
  • Brake Inspector Certification
  • Wheel end class/certification
  • Basic Electrical
  • Identify fault codes
  • Proficiency with all tasks will be graded by completing the preventive maintenance process and then work reviewed by Shop Manager, Shop Supervisor, Lead, and two senior technicians
  • Shop Manager/Supervisor will give official sign off

Nice To Haves

  • Applicants may be considered for ME02 or higher at the time of offer if they meet the following requirements: Must have 6 months experience at a Shop/Garage, as a mechanic. Or Class 8 experience (semi-experience)
