About The Position

This position is responsible for operating equipment to load finished products. The role involves directing semi-trucks to the proper loading area and loading finished product using an auto scale and loading systems according to the bill of laden. The Truck Loader will also conduct daily inventory of finished product storage containers and must work safely, following all company policies and requirements, as well as those of various government agencies concerning safety, environment, and vehicles. Maintaining a clean and uncluttered department, completing all required forms, and the ability to recognize and take precautions against hazards are also key aspects of this role. The position requires participation as a team member, contributing to team concepts, programs, and policies, and coordinating work to ensure best practices. Familiarity with Simmons' operating systems, including quality, security, and company policies, is expected, along with understanding the impact of individual actions and communicating concerns or improvement ideas. The role may involve other duties as necessary to support business objectives.

Requirements

  • Ability to work in a wet, noisy, dusty, humid, hot or cold environment.
  • Ability to walk and stand on feet.
  • Ability to climb stairs / fixed ladders occasionally.
  • Requires bending, stooping, kneeling and pushing/pulling occasionally.
  • Ability to lift and carry 10 lbs.
  • Ability to shovel product from floor level to shoulder level occasionally.
  • Ability to pull, position, and use high pressure wash down hoses occasionally.
  • Ability to identify and use PPE in accordance with SDS sheets.

Responsibilities

  • Directs semi-trucks to proper loading area and loads finished product by using auto scale and loading systems according to the bill of laden.
  • Conducts daily inventory of finished product storage containers.
  • Work safely following all Simmons policies and requirements. Or various government agencies concerning safety, environment, and vehicles, handling of feed products, packaging, ingredients and any other related items.
  • Keep your department clean and uncluttered throughout your shift.
  • Complete all forms in department.
  • Ability to realize hazards and take precautions.
  • Read and understand floor paths.
  • Assist in re-running product.
  • Participates as a member of the Team. Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure B.E.S.T. practices with all team members.
  • Attends appropriate team meetings.
  • As a member of the Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc.
  • Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforces actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger Organization.
  • Is familiar with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position’s role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
  • Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
