About The Position

As a Truck Loader at Steel Technologies, you will safely and accurately load outgoing trucks and unload incoming loads using a forklift or crane. The role involves preparing items for shipment, ensuring customer expectations are met, and helping deliver finished material to the right place at the right time. It requires multitasking, organization, and time-management skills.

Requirements

Ability to accurately select and load material to meet customer and production requirements.
Ability to accurately use tape measures, micrometers, and calipers.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to read and understand material tags and shipping/receiving documentation.
Knowledge of raw materials and shipping/receiving processes.
Knowledge of and ability to comply with safety rules and requirements.
Ability to routinely climb stairs, ladders, or platforms; bend and squat; walk and stand for prolonged periods; and repetitively grasp.
Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.

Responsibilities

Select material for shipment from shipping and receiving documentation.
Operate a forklift and/or overhead crane to transport materials to and from storage areas and workstations.
Load, unload, and stack materials in accordance with established procedures.
Maintain up-to-date forklift certification and/or crane training.
Pull and compare inventory tags and ensure load accuracy.
Monitor the loading process and ensure shipping paperwork is signed properly.
Communicate non-compliance problems to a supervisor and/or shift lead.
Maintain housekeeping and clean truck docks and storage areas.
Retain loading requirements and manage the schedule flow of carriers in and out of the loading area.
