About The Position

The Garage Mechanic repairs and maintains all company vehicles assigned to the Moorefield Complex. This person must be able to perform repairs and maintenance on all company vehicles. This requires mechanical skills, welding skills, and troubleshooting.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years heavy-duty truck repair experience.
  • Loader repair experience.
  • Ability to comprehend simple instructions.
  • Ability to apply common sense.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to work in cool temperatures (around 40 degrees).
  • Ability to stand and use hands for 8-11 hours per day.
  • Ability to multitask and work quickly.
  • Must be a team player and be willing to work close to other employees at some stations (less than 3 feet apart).
  • Must have good communication skills.
  • Good hand and eye coordination required.
  • Must be able to lift 85 lbs.
  • Must be able to work at high heights.
  • Must be able to work in extreme temperatures and humidity.
  • Must be able to work holidays, weekends, and possibly have to work different shifts (day, evening, or night).
  • Must complete a successful background check.

Nice To Haves

  • CDL is a plus, must be willing to obtain.
  • Must have a valid State Inspection License or be willing to obtain one within 6 months.
  • Must have or be willing to obtain Air Conditioner and Brake Certification.
  • Desire to be part of a proactive, motivated team.
  • Food or production experience preferred.
  • Prefer at least two years’ experience.

Responsibilities

  • Start the shift by making sure everything in the garage area is running efficiently and review assigned job tasks for the day.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance on all company vehicles, including mechanical skills, welding skills, and troubleshooting.
  • Perform PM’s during production run time on a weekly basis and report deficiencies to supervision.
  • Enter data into SAP.
  • Perform repairs on loaders, fire fans, reefers, and other equipment.
  • Learn and use diagnostic software on a laptop.
  • Work in the wash bay department if needed, including washing equipment, degreasing equipment, and cleaning inside of reefer trailers.
  • Go off site for training.
  • Perform administrative duties and maintain records (e.g., PM’s, logs).
  • Other duties as directed.
