Requirements

  • High school or equivalent (GED) (Required)
  • 3-5 years of related experience
  • Valid Driver’s License (required)
  • Must provide and maintain essential mechanic tools and toolbox for daily tasks
  • Required to complete SpartanNash certification for safe driving skills for material handling equipment, tractors, and trailers (training provided)

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, diagnose and perform preventive and corrective maintenance and repair of diesel semi-trucks and trailers.
  • Maintain adherence to company safety standards and ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Assess the preventive maintenance schedule to ensure equipment maintenance is completed on schedule.
  • Meet with supervisor/lead to discuss work orders and priorities, proactively identifying any issues or conditions which might affect the operation of the equipment.
  • Utilize maintenance systems to ensure timely and accurate documentation of maintenance and repair work performed.
  • Effectively collaborate with other departments as appropriate.
  • Perform DOT inspections on tractors.
  • Repair and replace air brake components.
  • Replace starters, alternators, batteries.
  • Diagnose and repair cooling systems.
  • Service suspension components.
  • Replace wheel seals and hubs.
  • Perform minor electrical diagnostics.
  • Service fifth wheels.
  • Maintain service records and repair documentation for tractors.
  • Repair and replace wheel seal and hub assemblies for trailers.
  • Repair suspension and axle components for trailers.
  • Perform trailer DOT inspections.
  • Repair trailer electrical systems.
  • Maintain service records and repair documentation for trailers.
  • Service hydraulic liftgates.
  • Diagnose refrigeration performance issues.
  • Replace sensors and electrical components for reefer units.
  • Repair starter and charging systems for reefer units.
  • Perform refrigerant leak detection and service.
  • Calibrate temperature controls for reefer units.
  • Maintain service records and repair documentation for reefer units.
