About The Position

Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Washington D.C. is hiring a Truck Driver in Chesapeake, Virginia for 2nd Shift. The Truck Driver is responsible for transporting and delivering products to Carter Machinery facilities and customer locations over established routes. The company is offering a $2,500 sign-on bonus for new hires, with $1,250 payable after 90 days of employment and the remaining $1,250 after 180 days of employment. Candidates are sought with a minimum of four years’ experience driving a tractor trailer, a valid CDL A licensure, and preferably HAZMAT certification, a high school diploma or equivalent, and previous warehouse experience.

Requirements

CDL A licensure with proven tractor/trailer driving experience
Must have an excellent driving record.
Thorough knowledge of DOT and Company safety standards and regulations
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
Must have mechanical aptitude.

Responsibilities

Transport and deliver products to Carter Machinery facilities and customer locations over established routes.
Conduct pre/post/periodic trip inspections to ensure safety and equipment is in good working order.
Load, unload, and secure cargo for transport.
Meet delivery deadlines.
Work overtime additional hours as needed to meet customer demand.
Operate a forklift.
