About The Position

Penske Truck Leasing is hiring a Hiker (Vehicle Transporter/Truck Driver) to deliver vehicles to and return them from Penske locations and customer locations. The role primarily moves box trucks up to 26 feet; drivers with a Class A CDL may also move tractors and trailers. The position may also assist the service department by delivering parts and equipment.

This is a casual, on-call, part-time driving position intended for licensed CDL Class B or Class A drivers seeking supplemental income. Hours vary based on business needs, with the posting describing work ranging from 0 to 25 hours per week and a flexible morning schedule of up to 30 hours per week. The location is 1400 Candelaria Rd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87107. Pay is $16 per hour for Class B and $17 per hour for Class A. Requirements

• At least 2 years of driving experience.
• At least 2 years of a clean DMV motor vehicle record.
• A valid Class B CDL; applicants must be domiciled in the U.S. and licensed in their state of residence.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions.
• Ability to work independently, customer service skills, organizational skills, and a positive attitude.
• English language proficiency, as required for compliance with federal law.
• Regular, predictable, full attendance.
• Maintain a current driver qualification file, including an annual motor vehicle records check, a successfully completed DOT Physical, and Safety Performance History records requests from prior employers in the last 3 years.
• CDL holders must complete a DOT Drug Screening within 30 days of start and are subject to an FMCSA Clearinghouse review.
• Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule and at the specified location, complete the Penske employment application, and undergo a background investigation and drug screening.
• Ability to remain alert and work safely; associates must accept responsibility for their own safety and the safety of others.
• Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle and safely and frequently enter and exit the vehicle and its rear cargo area.
• Ability to meet the described physical requirements, including lifting and moving up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Drive trucks safely to Penske locations or customer locations, following appropriate safety procedures.
• Check vehicles to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order, and report issues to the location manager.
• Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment for services when required.
• Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or vehicle damage.
• Deliver vehicles to and return vehicles from Penske locations and customers.
• When needed, assist the service department by delivering parts and equipment.
• Complete other projects and tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
