About The Position

Penske Truck Leasing is hiring a part-time Hiker (Vehicle Transporter/Truck Driver) to deliver vehicles to Penske locations and customers and return vehicles to Penske locations. The role primarily involves moving box trucks up to 26 feet; drivers with a CDL Class A may also move tractors and trailers. The position may also assist the service department by delivering parts and equipment. This is a casual, on-call position for supplemental income, with work ranging from 0 to 25 hours per week based on business needs. The listed work location is 3535 Weeden Creek Rd, Sheboygan, WI 53081. The Class A driver schedule is Monday and Friday, 7 a.m. to noon, and Saturday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Pay is $20 per hour.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of driving experience.
• At least 2 years of a clean DMV motor vehicle record.
• Valid Class B CDL; applicants must be domiciled in the U.S. and licensed in their state of residence.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions.
• Ability to work independently, customer service and organizational skills, and a positive attitude.
• English language proficiency.
• Regular, predictable, full attendance.
• Maintain a current driver qualification file, including an annual MVR check, a successfully completed DOT Physical, and requests for Safety Performance History records from prior employers in the last 3 years.
• CDL holders must complete a DOT drug screening within 30 days of start and are subject to an FMCSA Clearinghouse review.
• Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule and at the specified location, complete the employment application, and submit to a background investigation and drug screening.
• Ability to remain alert and work safely, accepting responsibility for personal safety and the safety of others.
• Ability to see and hear, including the vision abilities specified for the role.
• Ability to move frequently, stand, walk, sit, use hands to touch, handle, and feel, and reach with hands and arms.
• Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
• Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle and safely and frequently enter and exit the vehicle and rear cargo area.

Responsibilities

• Follow appropriate safety procedures while driving trucks to Penske or customer locations.
• Inspect vehicles to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order, and report issues to the location manager.
• Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment for services when required.
• Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or vehicle damage.
• Deliver parts and equipment for the service department when needed.
• Complete other projects and tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
