About The Position

Penske Truck Leasing seeks a reliable, safety-conscious Hiker (Vehicle Transporter/Truck Driver) for a casual, on-call, part-time role. The position delivers and returns vehicles to Penske locations and customers, primarily moving box trucks up to 26 feet. For CDL Class A drivers, duties may also include moving tractors and trailers. The driver may also assist the service department by delivering parts and equipment. Work ranges from 0 to 25 hours per week based on business needs. The position is located at 3700 Enterprise Dr, Allen Park, MI 48101. Pay is $20 per hour for Class A drivers and $19 per hour for Class B drivers.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of driving experience.
• At least 2 years with a clean DMV motor vehicle record.
• Valid Class B CDL; applicants must be domiciled in the U.S. and licensed in their state of residence.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions.
• Ability to work independently; customer service and organizational skills; and a positive attitude.
• English language proficiency, as required for compliance with federal law (49 C.F.R. 391.11(b)(2)).
• Regular, predictable, full attendance.
• Ability to maintain a current driver qualification file, including an annual MVR check, a successfully completed DOT physical, and safety performance history records requests from prior employers in the last 3 years. CDL holders must complete a DOT drug screening within 30 days of start and are subject to an FMCSA Clearinghouse review.
• Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule and at the specified location, complete the Penske employment application, and submit to a background investigation and drug screening.
• Ability to remain alert and work safely, accepting responsibility for personal and others' safety.
• Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle and safely and frequently enter and exit the vehicle and rear cargo area.
• Ability to see and hear, with close, distance, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Ability to move frequently, stand, walk, sit, use hands to touch, handle, and feel, and reach with hands and arms.
• Ability to regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Follow appropriate safety procedures while driving trucks to Penske or customer locations.
• Check vehicles to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order, and report issues to the location manager.
• Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment for services when required.
• Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or vehicle damage.
• Deliver and return vehicles to Penske locations and customers, primarily moving box trucks up to 26 feet; Class A duties may include moving tractors and trailers.
• Provide assistance to the service department by delivering parts and equipment when needed.
• Complete other projects and tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
