About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL Truck Driver in Batesburg, South Carolina. This local, solo route delivers to surrounding areas in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia. Drivers operate a day-cab tractor with 48- or 53-foot refrigerated trailers and tankers. Freight is no-touch, and reefer experience is required. Drivers are paid weekly at $23 per hour, or $24 per hour with a tanker endorsement, with average weekly earnings of $1,200–$1,500. Paid training is provided. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with a start time between 2:30 a.m. and 4:30 a.m.

Ryder provides well-maintained trucks that are 36 months old or newer, 24/7 roadside maintenance, and fueling at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations. Drivers are empowered to make safety decisions, and their jobs are protected when doing so. The position also includes benefits and opportunities for driver referrals.

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Pass a Ryder drug test.
• Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including verification of drug and alcohol history with previous employers for the last three years.
• Pass a DOT physical.
• Pass a Ryder road test.
• Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
• Have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
• Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
• Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
• Have reefer experience.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
• Detect, eliminate, or minimize safety hazards.
• Maintain accurate records and logs.
• Load or unload freight, or assist with loading or unloading if required by the customer.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
