About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL truck driver in Bethpage, New York. This is a local, home-daily driving position delivering surgical equipment to locations in New York, New York City, and New Jersey. The driver operates solo, primarily in a 26-foot box truck, with occasional use of a 53-foot dry van. Freight is touch freight. Ryder provides training on the equipment needed for the position and maintains its trucks, which are 36 months old or newer, with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations. Pay is $27.31 per hour, with a 40-hour weekly guarantee and reported weekly earnings of $1,092 guaranteed; top earners make $1,490 per week. Drivers typically work 45–48 hours per week. The schedule may be 1–5 days per week, Monday through Friday, covering call-outs and vacations. Start times vary. Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Pass a Ryder drug test.
Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years.
Pass a DOT physical.
Pass a Ryder road test.
Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
Have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.

Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
Maintain accurate records and logs.
Load and unload freight, or assist with loading and unloading if required by the customer.
Perform other duties as assigned.
