About The Position

The Department of Transportation - Highways, Maintenance Section has a vacancy located in Honoka'a. This position requires the possession of a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class B, with an N endorsement (tank vehicles 1000 gallon or more capacity), and without restrictions for codes E (manual transmission), J (automatic or synchromesh transmission), and L (air brakes) at the time of application. Operates medium and heavy trucks as a regular work assignment, and performs operational maintenance; performs manual, unskilled and semi-skilled work in the general construction and maintenance of roads and adjacent areas; and performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • ONE (1) YEAR of manual, unskilled and semi-skilled work experience in general construction and/or building repair and maintenance, some of which shall have included the operation of trucks representative of the class (i.e., medium trucks with a factory rated capacity of 1-1/2 tons or more, but less than 5 tons, and heavy trucks with a factory rated capacity greater than 5 tons), or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Possession of a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class B
  • Possession of an N endorsement (tank vehicles 1000 gallon or more capacity)
  • Possession of a CDL without restriction codes E (manual transmission), J (automatic or synchromesh transmission), and L (air brakes) at the time of application.
  • If a copy of your CDL is NOT submitted at the time of application, your application will be REJECTED.
  • A valid out-of-state CDL may also be accepted. If you are selected for this position, you must transfer your out-of-state CDL to a Hawaii-issued CDL prior to your employment start date. Your Hawaii-issued CDL will be verified by the hiring agency before you can start employment.
  • Pre-employment testing for controlled substances is required.
