About The Position

The Truck Driver – Construction Crew is a safety-sensitive position operating County vehicles in the heavy equipment classification, including hauling material and equipment to maintain County roads. The role requires initiative and the ability and willingness to work independently for much of the time, using discretion and judgment within established organizational policies and procedures. Work is generally scheduled Monday through Thursday, 6:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The position includes on-call duty that requires some weekend and holiday work. Travel by vehicle is required to reach work sites. The incumbent works outdoors year-round and may work near moving mechanical parts and traffic, and be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration. This safety-sensitive position may be subject to random drug testing.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
One year of responsible roadway maintenance experience.
Valid State of Colorado Class A driver’s license with tanker endorsement and an acceptable motor vehicle record.
Acceptable background check.

Responsibilities

Operate various types of CDL vehicles.
Perform snow removal operations, including setting up and taking down snow equipment.
Collect debris along county roads.
Make ongoing judgments about safety, equipment capacity, and plowing precautions.
Report for off-duty emergency operations involving public health, safety, and welfare.
Perform minor equipment maintenance, including daily inspections.
Assist with other Road and Bridge work as required or assigned, including moving equipment; asphalt pothole patching, crack-sealing, and brooming; cattle guard and culvert installation, cleaning, and repair; fence installation or repair; flagging and traffic control; sign installation or repair; washing, cleaning, greasing, and servicing equipment; helping in the shop and running parts; ditch mowing, weed spraying, seeding, erosion control, and cleaning; and tree removal and trimming.
