About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Part Time Class B Truck Driver in Shreveport, LA — offering weekly pay and a driving career you can feel good about. This position offers a starting pay of $648 or more per week, with an hourly rate of $27.40 and a health stipend of $5.50 per hour. Drivers are expected to work 20-25 hours per week. Paid training is provided. The schedule is Monday through Saturday, with start times between 4:00 AM and 8:00 PM. This role requires straight truck experience. The delivery radius is 25 miles from Shreveport, and the route is local, meaning drivers are home daily. The trailer type is 26' Straight Trucks, and the equipment includes rolling carts and lift gates. Ryder will provide training on all necessary equipment. The freight is touch freight, specifically US Mail, and requires registration for the Military draft. Trucks are 36 months or newer, with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling at over 800 facilities nationwide. Additional requirements for this account include a Federal Level 2 background screen by the USPS and Selective Service registration for males born after December 31, 1959, unless exempt. Ryder also offers a program to assist Owner Operators looking to switch to a Company Employee Driver role.

Requirements

  • Minimum 21 years of age
  • Pass a Ryder Drug Test
  • Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including Drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
  • Pass a DOT physical
  • Pass a Ryder road test
  • Provide appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position
  • Must have Class A or Class B verifiable experience in a tractor trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months experience within the past 3 years, OR 2 years’ experience within the last 5 years, OR 5 years’ experience within the last 10 years
  • Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
  • Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations policies and/or procedures
  • Must be Registered for Military draft
  • Secondary background screen - Federal Level 2 conducted by the USPS
  • Selective Service registration for males born after December 31, 1959, unless there is a legal exemption

Responsibilities
