About The Position

Ryder is hiring a part-time, solo Class A CDL Transfer Driver in Columbus, Ohio. The role involves shuttling equipment between Ryder customer facilities, moving empty trailers, and safely operating a commercial vehicle in compliance with safety and DOT regulations. The position is local with daily home time and a schedule between Monday and Friday, beginning at 8:00 a.m., for 30–35 hours per week. Pay is $22 per hour, with the posting also indicating weekly pay of $660. A sign-on bonus is paid at 30 and 90 days, six months, and one year. Trucks are 36 months old or newer, and Ryder provides 24/7 roadside maintenance support. The driver is expected to complete continuous training and provide customer service.

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Pass a Ryder drug test.
• Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including verification of drug and alcohol history from previous employers for the last three years.
• Pass a DOT physical.
• Pass a Ryder road test.
• Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
• Have verifiable Class A experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
• Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
• Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.

Responsibilities

• Safely drive a commercial vehicle while complying with safety and DOT regulations.
• Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
• Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
• Maintain accurate records and logs.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.
