About The Position

Ryder is hiring a solo Class A CDL truck driver in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The role delivers freight across the 48 states using a sleeper tractor with an APU and dry van or Conestoga trailers. Freight consists of commercial and residential garage doors, and the work involves touch freight and hand unloading. Drivers secure loads with straps and average 2,000–2,500 miles and 8–10 stops per week. A passport is required within 90 days of hire. Drivers operate well-maintained trucks that are 36 months old or newer, with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations. Ryder describes the position as a company-driver role and offers paid training, weekly pay, benefits, and a sign-on bonus.

Requirements

Be at least 21 years old.
Pass a Ryder drug test, background check, motor vehicle check, DOT physical, and Ryder road test.
Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
Have Class A verifiable tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle experience meeting one of these thresholds: 9 months within the past 3 years, 2 years within the past 5 years, or 5 years within the past 10 years.
Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
Obtain a passport within 90 days of hire.
Some assignments may require additional screening, such as employment and education verification, motor vehicle records checks, road tests, or customer badging or background requirements.

Responsibilities

Comply with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
Detect, eliminate, or minimize safety hazards.
Maintain accurate records and logs.
Load and unload freight, or assist with loading and unloading when required by the customer.
Perform other duties as assigned.
