About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL truck driver in Redford, Michigan. This local, no-touch position delivers auto parts to Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio, with the driver home daily. Drivers operate a day-cab tractor pulling a 53-foot dry van. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with some weekends, and the start time is 6:00 a.m. The position pays $28.38 per hour for 45 or more hours per week, with weekly pay of $1,347 or more and a quarterly safety bonus of $250. Ryder provides well-maintained trucks that are 36 months old or newer, 24/7 roadside maintenance, and fueling at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations. Drivers are empowered to make safety decisions, with job protection for those decisions. The role also includes loading or unloading freight, or assisting with that work, if required by the customer.

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Pass a Ryder drug test, background check, and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
• Pass a DOT physical and Ryder road test.
• Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
• Have verifiable Class A experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
• Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
• Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
• Some positions may require additional screening, such as employment and education verification, motor vehicle records checks, road tests, or customer badging or background requirements.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
• Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
• Maintain accurate records and logs.
• Load and unload freight, or assist with loading and unloading if required by the customer.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
