About The Position

Ryder is hiring a part-time Class A CDL Transfer Driver in Romeoville, Illinois. The driver shuttles equipment between Ryder customer facilities, moving empty trailers; the freight is no-touch. The route is local with daily home time. The schedule is Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, for 24 hours per week. Pay is $22.50 per hour, or $540 per week based on 24 hours. Ryder provides 24/7 roadside maintenance from Ryder-trained technicians, and service employees fuel trucks at Ryder maintenance facilities. Drivers are supported in making driving-condition decisions to promote safety. The role involves safely operating a commercial vehicle in compliance with safety and Department of Transportation regulations, participating in continuous training, and providing customer service. Drivers must meet Ryder’s age, licensing, experience, testing, physical, and background-check requirements. Some assignments may require additional customer screening or badging.

Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Pass a Ryder drug test, background check, motor vehicle check, and DOT physical.
Pass a Ryder road test.
Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
Have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the past 5 years, or 5 years within the past 10 years.
Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
Provide drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years as part of the motor vehicle/background screening.

Responsibilities

Safely drive a commercial vehicle while complying with safety and DOT regulations.
Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
Maintain accurate records and logs.
Provide customer service and participate in continuous training.
Perform other tasks as assigned.
