About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL truck driver for local routes in Zeeland, Michigan, with home-daily work. The driver delivers solo using a day cab or 26-foot box truck and a 53-foot dry van, hauling auto parts that require heavy touch. Equipment includes an electric pallet jack. Hazmat endorsement is preferred. Ryder provides well-maintained trucks that are 36 months old or newer, 24/7 roadside maintenance, and fueling at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations.

The position pays $27.81 per hour, with a weekly guarantee of $1,320 for 45 guaranteed hours. Drivers are paid weekly. The schedule is Sunday through Friday, with some Friday overtime required. Start time is 5:30 PM or 6:00 AM, and flexibility is required to cover additional routes.

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Pass a Ryder drug test, background check, motor vehicle check, and DOT physical.
• Pass a Ryder road test.
• Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
• Have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the past 5 years, or 5 years within the past 10 years.
• Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
• Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
• Some positions may require additional employment and education verification, motor vehicle records checks, road tests, or customer badging and background requirements.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
• Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
• Maintain accurate records and logs.
• Load and unload freight or assist with loading and unloading when required by the customer.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
