About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL truck driver in Ocala, Florida, to deliver freight solo on regional routes in Florida and surrounding states. Drivers operate day cabs and sleepers, with the possibility of driving a 26-foot straight truck. Trailers may include 48- to 53-foot flatbeds, dry vans, reefers, Conestogas, curtainsides, and container equipment. Freight may involve mixed, touch, and no-touch loads. Ryder provides training on the equipment needed for the role and operates well-maintained trucks that are 36 months old or newer, with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations. The position pays $29 per hour for 40 or more hours per week, with weekly pay. Additional compensation includes $1 per hour for every three endorsements or certifications, $50 per night in per diem for overnight routes in a Ryder-booked hotel or sleeper, and a $1,000 annual tenure bonus. The Monday–Friday schedule requires flexibility. The role also includes paid training and benefits, including medical, dental, and vision coverage after 30 days; PTO accrual beginning on Day 1; and other allowances and employee programs.

Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Pass a Ryder drug test.
Pass Ryder background and motor vehicle checks, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
Pass a DOT physical.
Pass a Ryder road test.
Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
Have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: nine months within the past three years, or two years within the last five years, or five years within the last ten years.
Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.

Nice To Haves

One year of flatbed experience.
Hazmat, Tanker, and Doubles/Triples endorsements.
Experience with strapping, chaining, and tarping.
Familiarity with pallet jacks, lift gates, rollers, or Moffett equipment.

Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
Maintain accurate records and logs.
Load and unload freight or assist with loading and unloading when required by the customer.
Perform other duties as assigned.
