About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL truck driver in Nashville, Tennessee, for regional solo routes to Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Tennessee, and Kentucky. The position pays $29 per hour for 40 or more hours per week, with weekly pay, $50 per night in per diem, and a $1,000 annual tenure bonus. Drivers may earn an additional $1 per hour for every three endorsements or certifications. The Monday–Friday schedule requires flexibility, and routes may involve overnights in a Ryder-booked hotel or sleeper. Equipment includes day cabs and sleepers, with the possibility of a 26-foot straight truck. Freight may be mixed, touch, or no-touch. Ryder provides training on the equipment needed for the role and operates trucks that are 36 months old or newer, with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations. Drivers are responsible for operating safely, complying with applicable laws and rules, identifying and minimizing safety hazards, maintaining accurate records and logs, and loading or unloading freight when required by the customer. Drivers may also perform other duties as assigned. Ryder describes its drivers as having autonomy to make safety decisions and support behind the scenes.

Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Pass a Ryder drug test, background and motor vehicle checks, and a DOT physical.
Pass a Ryder road test.
Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
Have a Class A CDL and verifiable tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle experience: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the past 5 years, or 5 years within the past 10 years.
Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.

Nice To Haves

One year of flatbed experience.
Hazmat, Tanker, and Doubles/Triples endorsements.
Experience with strapping, chaining, and tarping.
Experience with pallet jacks, lift gates, rollers, or Moffett equipment.

Responsibilities

Comply with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
Maintain accurate records and logs.
Load or unload freight, or assist with loading or unloading when required by the customer.
Perform other duties as assigned.
