About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL truck driver in Granite City, Illinois, to deliver dedicated freight on interstate routes. The position is a solo regional route with weekly home time and three layovers per week. Drivers operate sleeper tractors pulling 53-foot flatbeds and handle strapping, tarping, and load securement. The schedule is Sunday through Friday, with dispatch at 6:00 AM. Ryder provides well-maintained trucks, 24/7 roadside maintenance, and fueling at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations.

The account averages $1,690 per week. Pay is weekly and includes mileage-based pay for mileage and stops, hourly delay pay after one hour, layover pay, and paid training. Flatbed experience is preferred; the posting specifies a minimum of 90 days of flatbed experience for the route.

Requirements

• Be at least 22 years of age.
• Pass a Ryder drug test.
• Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
• Pass a DOT physical.
• Pass a Ryder road test.
• Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
• Have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 12 months within the past three years, or two years within the last five years, or five years within the last ten years.
• Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
• Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
• Have at least 90 days of flatbed experience for the route.

Nice To Haves

• Six months of flatbed experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Safely drive a commercial vehicle while complying with safety and DOT regulations, completing continuous training, and providing customer service.
• Comply with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
• Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
• Maintain accurate records and logs.
• Load and unload freight, or assist with loading and unloading when required by the customer.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.
