About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL Truck Driver in Columbus, Ohio. This regional position delivers solo to the Northeast region, excluding New York City, and provides home-weekly routes. Drivers operate a sleeper tractor with a 53-foot dry van trailer and handle cabinet freight. The position pays weekly, with an average of $1,730 or more per week and a monthly performance bonus of $400. Paid training is provided. The schedule is Sunday through Thursday, with possible Fridays, and start times vary between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

Drivers use well-maintained trucks that are 36 months old or newer, with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling available at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations. Ryder describes its company drivers as having autonomy on the road and support throughout their careers.

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Pass a Ryder drug test.
• Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
• Pass a DOT physical.
• Pass a Ryder road test.
• Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
• Have verifiable Class A experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
• Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
• Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
• Some positions may require additional screening, such as employment and education verification, a motor vehicle records check, a road test, and/or customer badging or background requirements.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
• Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
• Maintain accurate records and logs.
• Load and unload freight or assist with loading and unloading when required by the customer.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
