About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL Truck Driver in Gary, IN — offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a driving career you can feel good about. This position offers a weekly average pay of $2,050+, with solo miles paid at $0.62 per mile for 2000-3000 miles per week. Additionally, drivers will receive $50.00 per stop for 8-10 stops per week, $45.00 per night for up to 3 layovers per week, $35 detention pay, and $37.00 drop/hook at wash pay for 5 loads per week. The position requires a Tanker endorsement (Hazmat preferred, with training provided) and 6 months to 1 year of Tanker experience. The tractor is a Sleeper with a Manual Transmission, and drivers must be able to operate it or be willing to have the restriction removed. A sign-on bonus of $4000 ($2000 at 30 days, $2000 at 90 days) and a safety bonus of $4500 ($1500 at 3, 6, and 9 months) are offered. Paid training is provided. The schedule is Monday-Friday with rotating Sunday dispatch twice a month, starting between 3:00 AM and 6:00 AM. This is a regional route with 2-3 layovers per week, delivering to OH, MI, IN, PA, WV, MS, AL, GA, IL, TN, AR, SC, NC, KY. The trailer type is a Liquid Tanker Trailer, and the freight is no-touch, though drivers will connect hoses and pressurize the trailer with assistance. Requirements

Minimum 21 years of age
Pass a Ryder Drug Test
Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including Drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
Pass a DOT physical
Pass a Ryder road test
Provide appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position
Must have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months experience within the past 3 years, OR 2 years’ experience within the last 5 years, OR 5 years’ experience within the last 10 years
Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations policies and/or procedures
Tanker endorsement REQUIRED
Must have 6 months to 1 year of Tanker experience
Must be able to operate Manual transmission, or be willing to have the restriction removed and Ryder will train
Cannot accept automatic restriction
