About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL Regional Truck Driver in Charlotte, North Carolina. Drivers deliver solo to North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia, and Washington. The role involves a mix of touch and no-touch freight, with product varying by route. Routes may include overnight stays in a Ryder-booked hotel or sleeper. The schedule is Monday through Friday and requires flexibility. Drivers are paid weekly at $30 per hour, with overtime after 40 hours, per diem of $30 per night, paid travel, and paid training. The posting reports drivers averaging $2,000 or more per week and top 10% of drivers at this location earning more than $100,000 per year. Sign-on and annual tenure bonuses are also offered. Drivers may operate a day cab or sleeper tractor, with the possibility of a 26-foot straight truck. Trailers include 48- to 53-foot flatbed, dry van, reefer, Conestoga, curtainside, and container types. Reefer and Hazmat endorsements are required. Equipment includes a manual pallet jack, rollers, lift gate, and Moffett; load securement duties include strapping, tarping, and chaining. Trucks are three years old or newer, and Ryder provides 24/7 roadside maintenance by Ryder-trained technicians. Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Pass a Ryder drug test.
Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
Pass a DOT physical.
Pass a Ryder road test.
Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position; Class A CDL, Reefer, and Hazmat endorsements are required.
Have verifiable Class A experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the past 5 years, or 5 years within the past 10 years.
Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.

Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
Detect, eliminate, or minimize safety hazards.
Maintain accurate records and logs.
Load or unload freight, or assist with loading and unloading when required by the customer.
Perform other duties as assigned.
