About The Position

DSHS Finance, Technology, and Analytics Administration (FTAA) is looking for a Truck Driver 1 who desires routine in their workday and consistency in their work schedule. This job is located at the Rainier School Residential Habilitation Center campus in Buckley. Since you don’t have to worry about traffic, this job offers reduced stress from many other transportation jobs. Working with a small team, you'll operate light-duty and small vehicles to deliver goods throughout the campus. You will have stable employment with a fixed mid-day shift schedule of consistent responsibilities, and Wednesdays & Thursdays off. The work that you do safeguards the resources needed to care for and support our clients. The schedule for this job is Friday-Tuesday, 9:30am-6:00pm. Pierce County employees are eligible to receive an Orca Card for transportation needs. Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.

Requirements

  • Valid WA driver's license, with driving record free from serious traffic violations
  • Ability to perform heavy outdoor work and lifting heavy objects repeatedly
  • Capable of reading/writing SOP manuals, work orders, logs

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating small light duty trucks or vans in safe and skillful manner or transporting others is desired

Responsibilities

  • Drive and operate small light-duty trucks, vans, and special vehicles to transport clients, and employees; deliver mail, materials, supplies, food, laundry, furniture, and equipment
  • Load and unload materials, supplies, and food products to multiple locations on campus by hand and use of liftgate, forklift, pallet jack, and hand dolly
  • Safely move and set-up furniture from multiple floors across campus, transport food carts down long corridors
  • Climb in and out of vehicles safely in all weather conditions
  • Assist in collection and transporting of recycled materials to collection points
  • Plow snow and spread salt during seasonal weather
  • Clean exterior and interior of all vehicles; keep vehicles fueled & mileage logs maintained
