Trim Die Assistant - 1st Shift
About The Position
The Trim Die Assistant sets up and operates various machinery including trim, drill, and arm-drill presses, CNC water jet, and conventional machines. This role involves ensuring machinery is set up correctly for production runs, verifying setups at the beginning of each shift, and maintaining accurate part counts. The position also requires participation in quality improvement initiatives like Total Quality Management, LEAN manufacturing, and SPC activities. Adherence to APP's policies, procedures, product safety, employee safety, and process specifications is crucial. The role supports plant quality and productivity goals and may involve performing other duties as assigned by leadership.
Requirements
- In compliance with ITAR regulations, must be a US Citizen or US Person.
- English (reading, writing, verbal and comprehension).
- Understand written and verbal instructions.
- Maintain focus on tasks throughout a scheduled shift.
- Keep accurate part counts.
- Demonstrate proficiency in basic mathematics.
- Recognize any mechanical dysfunctions or risks and notify a supervisor.
- Maintain an acceptable attendance record.
- Follow and respect supervisor’s direction.
- Ensure quality parts to meet customers’ and APP’s requirements.
- Work at an acceptable level of productivity.
- Maintain a non-combative, positive work attitude.

- Willingness to be cross-trained on multiple operations.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with all employees across all levels and departments at APP.
Responsibilities
- Perform set-ups for trim, drill, and arm-drill presses, CNC water jet and conventional machines, including any changes or adjustments to bolts, clamps, or assembly at the beginning of each production run.
- Verify the presses are set-up correctly for production at the beginning of each shift.
- Operate the trim, drill, and arm-drill presses, CNC water jet and conventional machines.
- Clean dies as needed.
- Maintain accurate part and/or work piece counts.
- Assure quality and production requirements are met, as per the job-specific travelers.
- Participate in total quality management projects to achieve continuous improvement.
- Participate in LEAN manufacturing and SPC activities as required.
- Ensure adherence to APP’s policies and procedures, including our code of conduct and ethics policy, product safety, employee safety and cultural beliefs.
- Ensure adherence to all process specifications.
- Support the Plant quality system goals / improvements & productivity goals / improvements within the scope of the job.
- Perform any other duties not mentioned above when instructed to do so by the APP leadership.
